About The Teacher

Ben Tibbetts is a pianist, composer, and music teacher based in the Austin, Texas area. Known for his versatility at the keyboard, Ben has built a career that blends performance, collaboration, and original music-making.

From an early age, he was drawn to creating music. He developed a lifelong interest in composition and the patterns that shape musical expression. Through many years of play, he now moves comfortably between classical repertoire, improvisation, sight-reading, and live collaborative performance.

Ben has produced music for dance classes at Ballet Austin; accompanied a variety of church and religious services; performed with dozens of professional groups in the Austin and New England areas; and worked as a full time collaborative pianist at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

He has taught piano and composition through several music schools in Central Texas, including Timbral Music Studios, Armstrong Community Music School, and Premier Music Academy. He is currently focused on building up a teaching studio at Meadow Lake Music.

In addition to performing and teaching, Tibbetts writes original music for a variety of contexts, including concert performance and digital media. His compositions are influenced by a combination of classical forms and contemporary styles.

Ben holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Theory from the University of New Hampshire and a Master of Music in Composition from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
